We are looking for ambitious Electrical Engineer, with an EICA engineering background, to work within the Project Team (PDU) supporting the Asset Owner and Supra Area M&E team. Our MEICA assets, which range from 1940s pumping equipment to up to date PLCs, have a very important role in the protection of people, property and the environment. Your role within the team will consist of providing Electrical/ICA support to the organisation, providing technical advice to other teams/consultants and you will be expected to take the lead in some areas. There may also be an opportunity to work with other areas across the country and with head office colleagues. Along with a methodical, intelligent approach to problem-solving, you’ll be confident managing contractors, budgets and projects and able to work remotely and independently as part of a dispersed team, managing a complex and dynamic workload. You should also have the ability to compile reports, project manage and conduct audits. You’re someone who thrives on challenge and shares our high standards. Bringing your skills and expertise as a technical adviser upon MEICA activity. Valued as an integral asset to successful project delivery you’ll identify, scope, solve design, operational and strategic issues in conjunction with consultants and end users. Colleagues will look to you for advice and guidance. Managing contractors, visiting sites, and evaluating designs, overseeing our electrical activities, design and ensuring that all MEICA work complies with standards and requirements.
You must be qualified in one of the EICA (Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation) subjects ideally to HND level or above (or be able to show equivalent knowledge and experience). You may be working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status but this isn’t essential, as we’ll support you financially and professionally if this is something you’re interested in.

You should also be able to demonstrate a knowledge in the following areas:-
• Industrial controls i.e. three phase motor controls, SCADA/PLC systems, electrical diagrams
• BS7671 - IET Wiring Regulations
• Health & Safety
• Project Management
• Production of Technical Specifications

A working knowledge of computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) and reliability engineering will be an advantage.

Other requirements for this job include excellent influencing and organisational skills, the confidence to work remotely and independently as part of a dispersed team and ability to manage a complex and dynamic workload.

The MEICA team delivers all of its works on the ground through our framework maintenance contractors, framework suppliers and NCPMS. The multi-disciplined nature of MEICA work usually requires each engineer to call upon other members of the team to contribute the specific expertise they need to deliver.
Given these factors and the volume of the work, it is imperative that the MEICA engineer needs to be an excellent communicator, a perceptive delegator and an effective project manager.
MEICA Technical Advice and Design
The MEICA team provide the sole source of MEICA technology knowledge into the whole business. Although the Flood Risk Management area of the agency’s work provides the majority of the workload, the MEICA team also provide technical advice, interpretation of regulatory requirements and design, to areas as diverse as Facilities management, Environmental Management and Fisheries.
The engineer needs a good working knowledge of their own discipline, to know where to find and interpret technical information/data and the ability to identify where supporting technical input is required.
Legislative Knowledge
Maintains up to date knowledge of, and complies with, relevant legislation within own area, enhancing and protecting the interests and integrity of the Environment Agency. Applies appropriate legislation in the line with Agency operational instructions and documentation. Keeps up to date with changes to legislation. Demonstrate the ability to ensure the risks to the team and contractors are controlled safely and effectively by assuring asset data. You understand HS&W legal responsibilities and follow our internal policies and guidance as required including statutory LOLER, PUWER and Electricity at Work Act...

Collects, analyses, interprets, records, manages, develops and shares data, material or information appropriately for a variety of purposes.
