We are looking for enthusiastic people with great communication and interpersonal skills to join our Operations Field team. You’ll help manage river defences, working to counteract the causes of flooding and pollution.
Delivering routine maintenance for our assets, you’ll protect properties and infrastructure by maintaining flood defences and river channels. This physical role involves working as part of a team, outside in all weathers. We undertake a range of activities, from strimming, debris and tree clearance to construction and maintenance.
We act quickly when floods or environmental emergencies occur, so you’ll take part in an emergency Incident response call out rota to respond to our operational assets such as pumps, sluices, erect temporary defences, flood gates and deal with pollution from water courses.

We have posts available in our Henley, West Bromwich and Uttoxeter Depots.
We are the Environment Agency's emergency response team and respond to flooding and environmental incidents both day and night. We deliver a maintenance programme on rivers and watercourses across the area.

You should demonstrate a positive adaptable approach and a ‘can do’ attitude as a worthy team player. Good organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure during incidents are essential. You must understand site health and safety requirements and you’ll need good communication skills to work with customers and partners.
Familiarity with tablet style computers and mobile technology will be useful.
Experience with plant and machinery such as tractors, and a foundation of practical skills such as concreting and minor construction work would be an advantage although full training would be provided as necessary.
