To lead, shape, develop and manage the performance of a NEAS team so that:
• all relevant Environment Agency work programmes can be delivered in line with Environment Agency objectives and the priorities of National Operations;
• expert advice and knowledge can be provided to inform and deliver FCRM and incident management outcomes;
• leadership of sustainability, health, safety and wellbeing is managed proactively; and
• positive outcomes for people and wildlife are secured.

The post holder will report to a Unit Manager and be supported by a Grade 6 technical specialist (Principal Environmental Project Manager). They will manage and provide direction to the team, ensuring that NEAS delivers its commitments within our Service Plans.
Our National Environmental Assessment Service (NEAS) manages the environmental assessments and consents for the flood projects that the Agency builds. Joining the team as a Team Leader, you’ll play an important role in enabling us to deliver positive outcomes for people and wildlife alike.
• An appropriate level of experience and knowledge of wellbeing, health and safety.
• Delivering results through others, for example by overseeing staff, coaching, mentoring, project work or across an organisation.
• Working productively with partners/stakeholders to help deliver the outcomes of both a specific function/project/team and the wider organisation.
• Delivering work within a programme and project management framework to time, cost and quality.
• Delivering change/new ways of working to improve efficiency & effectiveness (whilst making and responding appropriately to constructive challenge).
• Identifying, communicating and helping to fill knowledge gaps in the team (with support from a technical specialist).
• Facilitating value, accountability and performance across the team including assessing how best to allocate resources to maximise outcomes.
• Using effective written and spoken communication skills to help persuade internal or external partners to take action.
• Making decisions by assessing available information/evidence.
