This is an important role. You will have up-to-date knowledge of waste law, the Environmental Permitting Regulations or another area of environmental law and a knowledge of or interest in developing a knowledge of the producer responsibility and industrial installations regimes. You will be able to help shape our approach to regulation of those regimes in future. You will be able to handle complex technical issues. You will be expected to contribute to areas of law covered by the waste team and the wider national team at Bristol as required. You will use your organisational skills and maturity of judgment to handle a complex and demanding workload with a high degree of autonomy and have a proven track record of delivering high quality work on time. You will be recognised as a senior practitioner and role model able to train functional specialists, other lawyers and key external stakeholders in relevant areas of the law.
This role is based in our national Waste team of specialist lawyers who work closely with a range of clients, stakeholders and government departments.
You will be a fully qualified lawyer (solicitor, barrister or legal executive), with relevant experience advising on technical issues. You will need to demonstrate that you are confident, able to combine first-class communication skills with strong analytical skills and an ability to pick up new areas quickly. You will have experience of influencing and persuading people at all levels, and the ability to interpret technical legal areas to a variety of customers and stakeholders.
