At the Environment Agency there’s so much more to our work than building flood risk management schemes or regulating industry. We strive to ensure that everything we do counts towards leaving a legacy to be proud of – for people, communities and the environment – for all of us to enjoy and for future generations.

As our Contract Support Officer, you’ll provide comprehensive financial administrative support to Project Managers. Financial skills are essential here. Good communication skills will see you build ever-stronger relationships with our Project Teams and supply partners as you focus on ensuring suppliers are paid the right amounts, on time.

There’ll be purchase orders to raise, regular reports to run and anomalies to investigate. In fact, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring we deliver a huge range of vital projects.
We provide a Portfolio Assurance service to colleagues in Project and Contract Management Integrated Delivery Hubs across England, as they help create a better place through excellence in project and programme management.

Our Business Team works nationally to support local Delivery Teams. They analyse performance against programme targets, organise training and development, manage our workforce, ensure our contractors are paid the right amount at the right time, and a wide range of other activities.
GCSE / O Level Maths or a business-related subject and some A Level standard qualifications are essential. It’s also important you’re confident in using MS Office, particularly Excel, and that you have administrative experience. Some accountancy training or experience of Sage would also help.

We’re looking for someone with a passion for interpreting financial data, spotting issues and confidently reaching solutions, whilst maintaining positive working relationships.

With so many contacts across the Environment Agency, it’s also important that you’re positive, enjoy helping colleagues and take pride in your work, within a high performing team.

Naturally, we want you to be the best in your field. So expect training and development that helps you grow professionally. We will also pay your fees for one professional membership.
Starting in a new role with the Environment Agency you'll be welcomed into the team and given all the training, support and equipment you need to succeed.

We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community wishing to join a workforce which embraces difference and welcomes everyone.
