This is an exciting opportunity to secure a highly rewarding role within a challenging project. The Flood Warning Expansion Project (FWEP) aims to deliver warnings to an additional 26,000 properties at high risk of flooding and we are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual who is able to co-ordinate the installation of new monitoring sites to help deliver these crucial warnings.

The role is extremely varied and draws upon a diverse range of technical and transferrable skills. You will become an integral member of the project working closely with a number of different teams across the business and also external contractors to successfully embed new sites into the monitoring network.

Duties will include:
• Project management - Co-ordinating various elements including reporting progress to the FWEP project
• Asset management - Liaising with our Estates and Legal teams to ensure all relevant permissions are in place and achieve a safe and successful install
• Partnership and engagement - Working closely with our Area Hydrometry & Telemetry teams to agree suitable locations and successfully installed
• Customer service - Ensuring the outcomes meet the requirements of the project and local customers who will use these assets once created
You will report into your local area Hydrometry & Telemetry Team Leader and will working closely colleagues across your local hub. You will also form strong links with other members of the Flood Warning Expansion Project particularly within National Monitoring team who will provide support and co-ordination for the monitoring elements of the project.
Through experience to date, you should be able to demonstrate most of the following:
• Project management – the ability to develop a project plan, track spend and successful delivery against the plan
• Asset management – clear understanding of legislation and relevant documentation is critical to allow new monitoring assets to be installed safely and legally
• Strong data management skills to effectively co-ordinate and target resource to deliver the project outcomes
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and a sound track record of developing and maintaining good working relationships with others
• Excellent communication skills are a must for this role as you’ll be working with a diverse range of people on a highly technical project.
• Good knowledge of the flood warning service and experience of installing monitoring equipment would be an advantage but not critical
