The role holder will deliver a portfolio of work using their experience and initiative, this will include:-
- Providing support to key incident roles helping us meet the demands of improving our incident preparedness in our area.
- Contributing to internal meetings such as the Area Incident Management Group to ensure we are prepared for incidents.
- Developing procedures for key incident roles, delivering training and ensuring the work is linked
- Work with partners in Local Resilience Forum to increase preparedness for incidents and ensuring that response plans are in place.
- Actively support and plan community engagement work to increase public awareness and preparedness for flooding, work with established groups to maintain their interest.
- Managing systems relating to flood warning and incident management, helping to ensure that the area is ready to respond effectively to flooding.
- Providing accurate and timely information for operational decisions and environmental issues.
- Carrying out analysis and interpretation of data and collating relevant data into a suitable format utilising GIS where appropriate.
- Provide responses to correspondence and enquiries.
- Develop and maintain a strong customer focus to ensure effective relationship building and partnership working to achieve environmental goals.
The Flood Resilience Team work on a wide variety of issues associated with the co-ordination of our operational response to flooding and operation of the Flood Warning Service. We work with the public to help them prepare, alongside professional partners. We also develop procedures/ plans and deliver training to ensure we can provide the best possible incident management service.
• You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, be self-motivated and able to work both individually and as part of a team.
• You will work well under pressure and with drive and enthusiasm.
• You will have some experience communicating with a variety of stakeholders including communities, partners and the public.
• You should be able to build strong relationships with others and have the confidence to attend meetings independently.
• You should have experience of interpreting and communicating data, use of GIS will be required.
• You should have a full driving licence and be willing to travel locally, occasionally as part of the role.
Some out of hours working may be required as part of the role or as part of an incident duty role.
