We are looking for individuals to join the Waste Data Team within Waste Industry and Regulatory Services (WIRS), part of Operations Regulatory Services (ORS).

WIRS are committed to data excellence; we collate, evaluate and use our technical expertise to interpret data, which informs regulation, enforcement and legislation.

In the role you will:
• Handle and assess data on waste data submissions to ensure it is complete
• Upload paper and electronic waste data submissions
• Act as an initial point of contact for customers who need information and advice by email and phone
• Work daily with excel spreadsheets and other bespoke IT systems
• Chase outstanding waste data submissions
• Issue compliance assessment reports to operators for late or non-submissions
• Work alongside team members to deliver the work within set deadlines
WIRS is an ambitious, inclusive department consisting of experienced and knowledgeable regulatory and technical staff. We deliver a variety of technical and compliance related activities across several regulatory regimes; helping to protect and improve the environment. We provide environmental guidance and regulation across the UK and internationally.
Key areas of work are: regulatory returns for waste management, chemical compliance and regulation, pollution inventory, hazardous waste and waste tracking.
You will require good written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to follow written processes and use different digital tools.

Salary: £19,767


Relevant work experience would be an advantage, however being able to demonstrate the following list of skills will be important:
• Able to work using basic computer applications such as Microsoft excel, word and email
• Ensure data and information is handled correctly and accurately
• Be comfortable working in a virtual team environment
• Deliver work to high quality standards
• Share learning with team members
• Communicate clearly with customers on what is required to submit their waste data submission
• Identify and escalate issues that arise
The jobs will be within WIRS based with other Environment Agency national teams at Sheffield. Some attendance at the Sheffield office would be required as agreed with the Team Leader.
