We’re looking to recruit a Service Owner to the Waste Regimes Operational Service (WROS). Across Producer Responsibility & International Waste Shipments we have several IT systems supporting our work. These require active management covering service & support from contractors who run the systems as well as continuous improvement and full development projects.

You will be accountable for the quality of the digital systems. Adopting a portfolio view, managing end-to-end services.

We are seeking a Service Owner to ensure our IT business needs are managed and developed to provide effective support for our regulatory functions. This includes the interfaces we have with our customers and how they interact with us in a digital way.

The role:

• Engage with the wider business to ensure that the IT systems continue to operate, contracts and budgets are managed, and any operating issues are managed and resolved.
• Coordinate Product Owners and Subject Matter Experts linked to individual IT systems.
• Provide the link and interface into the Regulatory Services Programme to ensure our systems are fully represented as part of that programme.
• Manage and develop the digital work plan and ‘road map’ for Producer Responsibility and IWS.
The role will be based in the Waste Regimes Operational Services (WROS) team, part of ORS. WROS was established from 01 April 2019 following a restructure of our frontline delivery. You will be part of the Support and Delivery Team, the support function within WROS, working alongside and leading a team of colleagues to manage and deliver IT.
This role is focussed on waste regulatory digital systems. Some experience of managing or developing IT systems is desirable. Alongside this a broad understanding of waste regulation would also be desirable.

You will:
• make sure the necessary business processes are followed and participate in the governance of the service, including acting as a point of escalation for the delivery teams
• own the budget(s) and allocate funding to areas of the service based on their decisions about priorities
• communicate the benefits and performance of the services
• be ultimately responsible for the successful operation and continuous improvement of the services
• have experience of delivering tasks to challenging deadlines
• have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• be skilled at influencing outcomes by building and maintaining effective relationships with colleagues and partners outside the business
• be able to manage complex projects
