This is a fantastic opportunity to shape local delivery that will enhance the diversity, health and resilience of our local communities and environment in Devon, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. It is quite simply a pivotal role for the Area.

We’re looking for a proactive, influential, and experienced individual to coordinate and assure our projects deliver multiple outcomes in line with our Local Outcome ambitions and key strategies. Uniquely you will work with a diverse range of flood risk, biodiversity, land-use and environment protection teams across our operational Area to help shape and deliver an integrated catchment-based approach.

Our virtual Catchment Teams provide a forum for exploring the evidence base, problem solving and developing strategies and projects that deliver integrated solutions. You will be responsible for administering our 5 Catchment Teams, escalating project issues to our Governance Boards and tracking progress against our Local Outcome Plan.

It is critical that we focus on those communities and environments that need our help the most. This may lead to difficult decisions for ourselves and partners. You will need to be resilient and resourceful, guiding others to workable solutions to meet our needs and those of our partners and communities.
This is an Area wide role, but the post will reside within the Partnership and Strategic Overview team. We provide the flood risk evidence base and work with partners to deliver projects and strategies to manage future flood risk and coastal change. You will need to form close links with other teams delivering environmental outcomes.

Your role will include supporting all these work areas to deliver integrated flood and environmental risk management solutions.
Qualified to at least degree standard or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, and experience of working in flood and coastal risk management and/or environmental management at a senior officer level.

You will need to demonstrate:

• Strong team spirit, self-motivated, and a positive, can-do, proactive attitude.
• Excellent organisational skills, can thrive under pressure, make decisions independently, whilst progressing strategic thinking.
• Experience of project and programme management including planning and governance.
• You are an excellent communicator and influencer, building and maintain strong networks internally and externally. Political acumen.
• A knowledge of Environment Agency local delivery including the structure, strategies and work we deliver together with our local partners.
• Share our passion to support climate resilient places by managing river and sea flooding and creating a cleaner healthier environment that benefits people and the economy.
We welcome diversity of all kinds to reflect the communities we serve.

We have a strong incident management culture. The post-holder will be given excellent training and be expected to have an active incident management role.

A full UK driving licence is needed for site work and attending meetings within the operational Area.

We currently operate on a hybrid working approach which includes office and home working.

Interviews will be conducted during the week commencing 10 October 2022.
