Joining our National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability (NEAS) team as a Environmental Project Manager (EPM), you will play a vital role in delivering positive outcomes for people and wildlife alike.
This role will support the South West hub to deliver a unique programme of work in the Devon, Cornwall, Isles of Scilly and Wessex areas.
You'll work closely with external delivery partners and EA specialists within integrated project teams to:
• Ensure that engineering projects are environmentally compliant.
• Screen, plan and co-ordinate the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
• Work with a variety of environmental stakeholders.
• Identify and explore environmental opportunities and deliver multiple benefits.
• Oversee the identification, management, mitigation and reduction of environmental risk.
• Promote a sustainable approach to projects and work in general.
The team is in the South West hub, one of 6 geographical units within the national NEAS network. Our work feeds into the respective EA area teams as well as partner teams in the Major Project and Programme Delivery (MPPD) directorate. We are comprised of Environmental Project Managers, Landscape and Heritage specialists as well as support and leadership colleagues and we work closely together with EA colleagues, delivery partners and wider stakeholders.
You will have (essential):
• Strong environmental awareness, including knowledge of relevant environmental legislation.
• Great communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers and partners.
• Experience in collaborating with others to deliver environmental benefits and manage environmental risk, and be able to communicate this effectively.
• Knowledge and awareness of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental Statements and Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA).
• Knowledge and awareness of different technical areas of expertise, such as habitats regulations, biodiversity net gain, natural capital, planning or environmental design.
• Programme and/or project management skills.

It’s an advantage if you have:
• Qualifications and/or experience in an environmental discipline.
• Experience writing or reviewing SEA environmental reports.
• Membership of relevant professional environmental institute.
• Knowledge of flood and coastal risk management.

A full clean UK driving licence will be required. The role requires some travel within the South West Hub area (Devon, Cornwall, Isles of Scilly and Wessex) with potential overnight stays.
