The Environment Agency work in partnership with government, local councils, businesses, and communities to manage the impacts of climate change, perhaps the most serious long-term threat to the environment, people, and wildlife that we face.

You will be enthusiastic and organised, with good planning, communication, and data management skills to support the technical specialists in the team to identify opportunities to improve the water environment, through:

• Our catchment data management system
• River basin management plans
• Water company investment plans
• Natural capital planning
• Delivery with customers and partners

Depending on your skills, interests, and team priorities, you can contribute to a wide variety of activities completed within our team, including:
• data visualisation through GIS mapping
• catchment planning
• strategic monitoring programme work.

We encourage learning and development, and these roles are an opportunity to learn and develop new skills in river basin planning and water quality. We encourage staff to seek continuous professional development and membership of an appropriate professional institute e.g. CIWEM

The Environment Agency responds to a variety of environmental incidents, including flooding and drought. There will be opportunities to take on an incident role and all relevant training will be provided.
The Integrated Environment Planning Team works to strengthen our evidence base and drive integrated delivery to achieve the best for Kent and South London’s environment.

The team includes specialists focusing on:
• River Basin Planning
• Monitoring Commission
• Water Quality
• Water Company investment programmes
• Drought management.

We work with other teams in the area and nationally to shape ways of working and contribute to the area Local Outcome Plan and Defra’s 25-Year-Plan.
• Sound organisational skills and the ability to plan, track, deliver and evaluate work
• Well-developed communication/influencing skills
• Experience gathering, maintaining and quality-assuring data/information
• Ability to work with and summarise environmental data for use by internal and external customers
• Confident working under own initiative and as part of a larger, cross-functional/multidisciplinary team
• Proactive networker, who enjoys working with a range of customers to understand and integrate their needs
