We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is passionate about Hydrometry & Telemetry (H&T) and can help make a real difference to the way in which we deliver water quantity monitoring within the EA.
Working in liaison with a similar role in water quality monitoring, you will ensure we have a clear understanding of the outcomes, evidence and standards our customers expect from the activities we undertake in H&T.
You will drive improvement, efficiency and effectiveness and will be responsible for promoting and embedding optimal ways of working within the H&T community to deliver an efficient and effective service and meet the standards set by customers.
You will also develop and produce assurance measures around prioritised H&T activities. Customers will be assured that they are getting the outcomes and standards they require and providers will be assured they are working efficiently with the rights skills and resources
You will join a highly skilled Hydrometry Programme & Technical Services (HP&TS) team whose roles include:
• Good practice and innovation
• Service costs and resources
• Met Office engagement and rainfall provision
• Training on all aspects of hydrometric fieldwork

HP&TS are part of Environment Monitoring Services in National Operations.

The role location is flexible - preference would be one of the various hubs - Bristol, Exeter, Peterborough, Reading, Leeds, Sheffield, Warrington and Solihull.
Through experience to date, you should be able to demonstrate most of the following:

• Experience of Hydrometry/Telemetry
• Strong data management skills and experience of interpreting large data sets, particularly in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and a sound track record of developing and maintaining good working relationships with others
• Excellent communication skills are a must for this role as you’ll be working with a diverse range of people.
