We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join Producer Responsibility Regulatory Service (PRRS).
You will be part of a team delivering regulatory activities under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), batteries and packaging regimes.
You’ll be involved in a variety of different work with conflicting deadlines, so the ability to manage yourself is essential.
More specifically, you will support a team to carry out compliance and enforcement activities in relation to producer responsibility.
You will:
• be responsible for meeting internal and statutory deadlines, whilst providing a value for money service
• be flexible and expected to work across different waste streams and activities
• communicate regularly with internal and external customers, answering technical queries and finding solutions to problems
• use data and information to help make evidence based decisions and employ good record management skills to access, save and share documentation in line with data protection guidelines
Through environmental regulation, we help divert several million tonnes of waste from landfill by supporting industry, business and public bodies to take responsibility for waste produced, imported, sold and used.
To ensure the UK complies with targets we:
• issue advice and guidance
• register producer and compliance scheme obligations
• permit operators to issue evidence of recovery/recycling
• risk profile compliance monitoring
• investigate and prosecute offenders through either criminal or enforcement undertakings/civil sanctions
We need individuals able to demonstrate the following;
• Excellent customer skills, written and verbal
• Flexible and adaptable to change
• ability to support the collection, assessment, reporting and saving of complex data in line with internal guidelines
• competent use of Microsoft Office and Excel are essential
• excellent time management, and interpersonal skills
• working co-operatively as part of a team to achieve common goals
• organisation and planning skills to deliver multiple work activities with varying deadlines
• experience of working with customers to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements is desirable but not essential
