Field Operations protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets and responding to incidents.

This hands on role involves leading and working within a team, outside in all weathers. This includes:-
Ensuring assets are able to operate as required and in line with training and procedures
Allocating, monitoring and carrying out work on site, using a variety of tools and equipment such as cutting grass on flood banks, clearing debris from trash screens. and monitoring contractors.
Leading and providing on site response to flood and environmental incidents inside and outside of normal working hours by participating, training and exercising, this role requires you to be part of a standby roster. Deploying sandbags, temporary barriers, mobile pumps and pollution equipment.
Coaching and mentoring Team Members and colleagues to increase skills, knowledge and experience
Assisting in the planning of maintenance programmes
Providing support to produce planned risk management documentation, producing dynamic risk management and unplanned risk management documentation for low risk incident response activities.
Field Operations maintain and operate our flood and coastal risk management assets (such as pumping stations, sluices and banks) and respond to incidents. This role is an essential part of the lifecycle delivery within our Asset Management model, mainly the “Operate” and “Maintain” components to identify faults with assets, conduct maintenance checks, highlight factors that could result in asset failure and complete assessments to help keep the public safe from risks associated with assets.
You should demonstrate a positive, adaptable approach and a 'can do' attitude as a worthy team player.
Some experience in asset operation or maintenance/incident response/use of equipment/tools/plant is desirable (however full training will be provided)
You should have an understanding of site health and safety requirements (relevant qualifications would be desirable)
You will be trained and supported to contribute to our response to incidents inside and outside of normal working hours
Literacy and numeracy skills are required
Be able to use personal effectiveness to carry out tasks and answer queries effectively.
Computer literate. Competent using IT devices, such as an iPad, and willing to learn our in-house systems.
Willing to undertake specialist/or further training when necessary.
People management skills are desirable
The team is based at Spalding depot and the role is field based, working outside in all weathers.
