This three to four-year structured graduate engineer programme focuses on technical, commercial, professional and management development. It's a well-supported programme where you take on a mix of internal and external assignments, building up skills in everything from asset management to project feasibility, planning and design to project management and site supervision. Typically, you’ll spend three to twelve months on each assignment. We’ll provide full training under agreement with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Once you’ve gained the relevant skills, attributes and capabilities, you can complete your chartered professional review.
As part of team in an Environment Agency Area office, you’ll have full support throughout. As well as being supported by your team leader and a supervising civil engineer who'll oversee your work, you’ll have a delegated engineer to help you on a day-to-day basis. Throughout the programme and assignments, including with external contractors, you will establish and maintain relationships with internal and external colleagues and customers, to develop effective partnerships and networks.
You’ll need to be a graduate with a MEng degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). It’s also essential that your degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) as satisfying the requirements of becoming a Chartered Engineer.
Keen to learn, you’ll be ready to make the most of all the assignments and opportunities that will come your way. Please state in your application any relevant work experience and competencies you have gained that are relevant to the role. If you are a graduate member of a professional institution, please state what this is in your application.
