We are seeking a positive, proactive and hard-working individual to join the Devon Partnerships & Strategic Overview Team as a Flood and Coastal Risk Management Officer. This is a crucial role providing frontline support and guidance to our customers.
You will:
• Use your technical awareness to respond to and manage our customer enquiries, including data and information requests and flood risk guidance. You will ensure customers receive informative quality answers within the agreed timeframes.
• Coordinate and administer flood risk activity enquiries and permits.
• Provide transactional and administrative support for the team, such as managing the team mailbox.
• Work with your counterpart in Cornwall to provide resilience and collaborate across our department.
• Work with a variety of teams within the Environment Agency to ensure we provide holistic flood risk management.
• Be given training to hold an active incident management role.
We ensure our Area is an even greater place by being the influencing mind of flood and coastal erosion risk management. We work with communities and partners to plan, fund and deliver flood risk management schemes. We influence planning strategy for new developments and work in or near watercourses. We are champions in using data and evidence to drive our key decision making, and we lead the way on partnership working internally and externally.

• Understanding or experience in the Flood and Coastal Risk Management sector and of flood risk laws, regulations and powers.
• Experience and understanding of 1D-2D hydraulic modelling.
• GIS skills and high sense of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, are essential.
• A full UK driving licence is needed for site work and for attending meetings within the operational Area.
