We are looking for a Commercial officer to assist budget holders in delivering value for money from every pound that we spend, taking into account whole life costs in delivering environmental outcomes.

The successful candidate will award and monitor intermediate value, intermediate risk regional and national contracts in accordance with Environment Agency procurement policies and procedures to meet business needs, objectives and deliver outcomes. They will assist senior colleagues by providing support in developing more complex contracts.

Lastly, the post holder will develop relationships with national colleagues, building the Commercial network both internally within the Environment Agency and through the wider Defra network and Government bodies.
The role sits within the Head Office Contracting Team and will be based in Horizon House, Bristol. We provide commercial support to National/Head Office customers. We lead on the following categories of spend: environmental desk based consultancy (including flood consultancy), research, data management and licences (not software), management consultancy and pensions services.
The successful candidate will have relevant procurement experience. In addition:

Experience of working within a team, managing conflicting demands on time due to working tight timescales

Experience of working cross-functionally, meeting expectations of differing customers and partners

Experience of identifying ideas for efficiency through innovative ideas

Experience of working with Microsoft Office Software and business systems
The annual salary for this role is £26,869.
