We’re looking for a suitable candidate to join the Area Hydrometry and Telemetry Team. Your role will be to carry out office based data processing, validation and quality assurance on hydrometric data collected in the field. The high quality hydrometric data produced is essential for the effective management of water resources and flood risk.
The team undertakes core telemetry, hydrometric and hydrological activities within our Yorkshire and Northumberland Durham and Tees areas. You'll join a team based at our Leeds office (Lateral). The team are responsible for the operation of area telemetry systems and the validation and archiving of all flow, level, rainfall and groundwater data collected in the areas. The service delivered underpins much of the Environment Agency’s statutory responsibilities relating to flood forecasting and water resources.
We’re seeking a self-motivated individual and a good team player. You'll have relevant vocational training and/or experience in an environmental field and possess knowledge and proven ability in:

• hydrological processes and hydrometric monitoring methods;
• data and information management;
• quality control of data and data validation techniques.

Other key requirements include a keen eye for detail, good organisational skills, proficiency in excel and database management and an ability to analyse and solve problems. As part of a customer driven team you’ll have excellent communication and customer service skills in order to understand client requirements and deliver to their expectations.

The grade rate for the role is £22,792
The role is office based, at our Lateral Office in Leeds. The successful candidate will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
