We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent planning, communication and analytical skills, who can help us plan and deliver our resources work in Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. For example, our team work to ensure there is enough water in the environment, of a suitable quality, to support a diverse wildlife. We also consider the needs of water users including agricultural irrigation demands and public water supply.

Working on a river catchment basis, and with internal teams and external partners, your evidence based advice will identify solutions to the environmental issues we face, ensuring that we get the best results for the environment. You will also support our team’s contribution to River Basin Management Plans.

You will need to understand, analyse and translate date and information into evidence that can be used to inform and influence decisions made by technical audiences such as Water Companies and non-technical audiences such as members of the public.

You will also need to build and maintain productive, influential relationships with internal and external customers; lead and/or provide specialist advice to working groups and local projects; provide specialist advice to non-technical senior managers and provide input to plans, reports and other communications.
You will join a diverse team of 10 people, based in our modern office on the Northern edge of Lincoln, made up of environment planning specialists and officers who focus on sustainable water resources, water quality and river basin management planning.

Working with operational teams, national colleagues and external partners and customers, we collate, analyse and share data to produce environmental evidence that informs and drives environmental improvements around the area.
An ideal candidate would have the following skills and/or experience:

• Educated to degree level and with equivalent qualifications and experience.

• Strong IT skills including Microsoft office, especially excel and experience with mapping software such as ARC GIS.

• A good understanding of water resources processes and management.

• Experience of translating guidance and instructions into delivery.

• Experience of using evidence and analysis to explore problems and propose effective and innovative solutions.

• Proven communication, influencing and networking skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, partners and communities, including the ability to translate technical issues into non-technical language.

• Experience of prioritising and delivering work

• Evidence of working in across teams to achieve results for the benefit of both the specific team, project and the wider organisation.

• Able to coach and mentor others to increase experience and resilience within the environment planning community.
