We are looking for two self-motivated, experienced officers to work on a 1 year assignment within the Hydrometry and Telemetry teams in Lincolnshire/Northamptonshire and East Anglia, to work with the FoNT business change project delivering new data communications methods into the business. An ability to develop good relationships, and operate well within dispersed teams is essential.

Our telemetry systems and communications methods are changing, and this is an exciting opportunity to get involved by converting and replacing telemetry outstations and ensuring the appropriate associated power requirements are in place.

Responsibilities will include:
- Understanding the requirements for your areas and planning the replacement and upgrade programme to meet deadlines.
-Installing, replacing or upgrading outstations and associated power and telemetry equipment whilst adhering to Standards, Health and Safety, and best practice.
- Liaise with the FoNT team, National Telemetry Service, and a range of internal and external customers to ensure data from upgraded sites continues to be accurate and delivered in a timely manner.
- Provide advice to others within areas of your personal expertise on Data communication infrastructure to help resolve local issues, and promote improved monitoring techniques / technologies working with Specialists and Process as required.
You will be part of the local Hydrometry and Telemetry team managed by the Team Leader, but your work will be provided by the FoNT change work stream. Your focus will be on delivering the outstation requirements to enable operation with our new telemetry system.

Primarily the role will involve home working and working alone while carrying out upgrades at largely remote locations.
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and can work well in a dispersed team. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
• Practical fieldwork experience, adhering to processes, best practice and Health and Safety standards.
• Understanding and experience of the design, installation and maintenance of H&T operational monitoring equipment particularly outstations, peripheral power requirements and data communications methods.
• Experience of M2M conversion and upgrade of outstations to data communications infrastructure.
• Knowledge of data transmission systems and data collection & management systems including good working knowledge of end to end telemetry including the system used in the local team.
• Problem solving experience is essential as the role will involve routine and reactive maintenance of hydrometric instrumentation.
• An ability to build and sustain relationships with our customers, DDTS and external suppliers is essential.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
This is a fixed term assignment for 12 months from starting date of appointment - INTERNAL CANDIDATES PLEASE NOTE you must ensure you seek agreement from your line manager to apply for this role.

Full driving licence required and the role may require occasional national travel.
The role is full time, but other working patterns could be considered.
