We are the Environment Agency. We work with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.

We’re investing £5.2billion between now and 2027 in our Capital Programme that will reduce flood risk to 336,000 homes across the UK. We are currently building our next 6 year programme so it’s an exciting time and we need your help to ensure we’re prepared for any future flooding. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to support the management of our ambitious Flood & Coastal Risk Management programmes working closely as part of our Integrated Delivery Team.

This role is varied and draws upon a diverse range of transferrable skills. Working closely with other teams, you can expect to be involved in the following:

• Be proactive in driving projects forward to delivery, identifying and resolving issues and blockers
• Help develop integration across programmes and disciplines
• Developing and planning programmes of work
• Develop a common understanding across multiple teams
• Advising on programme risks and opportunities
• Tracking project progress and performance
• Collecting, analysing and interpreting data
• Preparing reports and presentations highlighting programme performance
The Programme Team tracks spending, delivery and performance in completing programmes to create new flood defences, repair and maintain defences and routine river maintenance. We advise on the status of the programme, risks and opportunities. This role is key to understanding our programme delivered by a range of different teams. We also supply information to national teams and the Regional Flood and Coastal Committee, and brief communities, politicians and partners on progress.
Through experience to date, you should be able to demonstrate the following:

• The ability to be a valued and leading member of a collaborative team
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of Project and Programme Management
• Proactive approach and fresh perspective will ensure you’re always looking towards continuous improvement
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to present convincing verbal and written advice
• Excellent data management skills and experience of interpreting large data sets
• Good organisational skills, with an attention to detail
• A strong drive towards continuous improvement
• A proven record of working with customers and delivering on time

Please do not be put off from applying if you do not have experience in Flood & Coastal Risk Management. The key things we are looking for are transferrable skills, energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
We offer an extensive range of employee benefits. The Environment Agency takes part in incident response. There are opportunities to get involved and support depending on your role and circumstances. If successful your line manager will discuss arrangements with you.

It is your answers given to the competency questions below that will be used for interview selection so ensure you draw out your skills and experience in your responses.
