World class asset management. That’s our aspiration. That’s the journey we’re on in Water Land and Biodiversity (WLB) within the Environment Agency. Join us on the journey as a WLB Asset Management Assistant. We have a wide variety of WLB assets across Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire Area, including pumping stations, weirs, rain gauges and boreholes, all of which help us monitor and manage water for the benefit of people and wildlife. Knowing the condition of our assets is hugely important and underpins our risk based approached to asset management.

Your role will involve field and desk based activities. Outside, you will visit WLB assets, collating information and carrying out visual inspections to determine their condition. Inside, you will process information on WLB assets ensuring assets are accurately and fully represented on the new asset management database.

Reporting to the Hydrology and Operations Team Leader, you will be working closely with the Area WLB Asset Management Technical Lead.

Your role will also include:
- Assisting Area WLB Asset Management Technical Lead to ensure WLB assets are safe, efficient and resilient
- Assisting WLB Asset Management Technical Lead to develop/establish an organisational culture where all Area staff understand their role in asset management.
Reporting to the Hydrology and Operations Team Leader, your workload will largely be guided by the Area WLB Asset Management Technical Lead. You will be required to support National and Area asset management teams. Occasional travel is required to attend meetings.
We are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We welcome flexible working for all our vacancies.
Experience in asset management, direct involvement in projects or in the delivery of asset maintenance work is an advantage but not essential. The ability to manage a varied workload is essential. Previous exposure to engineering projects is desirable.
