You will be part of a highly skilled field operations team, responding to flooding and environmental incidents, and delivering the operation and maintenance of our flood risk management assets. You will be a key member of a task group to provide an emergency response service for the Environment Agency, ensuring that all work is delivered in a safe manner giving full consideration to the sensitivities of the environment.
You will operate out of the Pevensey Depot to help manage the operational assets within the Pevensey and Cuckmere catchments. You will ensure the provision and use of safe working practices in accordance with the Safety Health Environment and Wellbeing Code of Practice to ensure compliance with Environment Agency policy. You will take the lead on minor construction works and maintenance tasks, ensuring that all work is delivered in line with required standards and to time scales. You will take responsibility for your own personal development, ensuring that you maintain your competencies on the equipment that you operate and seek opportunities for further development.
The Pevensey Field Operations Team is responsible for delivering a programme of maintenance to rivers and Flood and Coastal Risk Management assets. They provide a 24/7 incident response team prepared to react to incidents across the Pevensey and Cuckmere Catchments and when required stretching into neighbouring patches.
You should demonstrate a positive adaptable approach and a ‘can do’ attitude as a team player. Good organisational skills and a proven ability to work under pressure during incidents are essential. You should be experienced in operating a variety of plant and or machinery and have a good working knowledge of the risk management paperwork and the requirements of Safety Health Environment and Wellbeing Code of Practice. You will need good communication skills to work with customers and partners. You will need to be confident in operating a variety of IT platforms and adaptable to change.
