This is an exciting opportunity to provide crucial support to a high profile team within the Environment Agency (EA). Illegal waste exports is a strategic priority crime type for the EA attracting high profile attention. Your role will be key to the team’s success by providing proactive data research support, often at pace, to detect and prevent waste being illegally exported.

You will be self-motivated to achieve excellence in your work, have a keen eye for detail and driven to seek out suspicious activity. Key to this will be your ability to make sense of large data sets and evaluate information from various sources to identify emerging risks and trends in activity. You will access a range of internal and partner research systems to inform an intelligence-led approach and ensure team data, systems and records are accurate, up to date and handled correctly.

You will develop and maintain strong relationships with customers including other EA teams as well as external partner agencies, gathering and interpreting information and data to assess risk and direct resources in the most productive way. Effective communication with field staff is essential to provide support, identify intelligence gaps and develop actions to build the intelligence picture.
The Illegal Waste Export Team sits within Intelligence & Partnerships (which also Includes Operation and Criminal Intelligence and Criminal Analysis). You will be part of a dispersed team working collaboratively with your colleagues to ensure an intelligence led approach to prevent, deter, detect and investigate the illegal export of waste.

This role is based in Birmingham however, will initially be home-based due to the ongoing Covid19 situation.

Interviews will be held virtually during the week commencing 23rd November.
