The successful applicant will have a relevant electrical engineering qualifications and will join the Midlands area MEICA Team to plan and deliver electrical works to flood risk pumping stations and water control structures. The role will be based within the Midlands due to the remote nature of some sites a driving licence and the ability to travel is essential.
You will;
- be responsible for providing assurance for both High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical safety across the Midlands Area.
- have experience of working as a Senior Authorised Person (11kV).
- be part of a network of Senior Authorised Persons, working nationally to ensure and improve our compliance with electrical safety regulations.
- have professional registration to a minimum level of CEng with the IET.
- assess the competence and appoint in writing all those who carry out work on Environment Agency electrical systems and equipment.
- provide technical advice to ensure staff across the Midlands involved with electrical works comply with Statutory legislation, British and European standards together with Environment Agency’s codes of practices, procedures and related guidance.
- provide technical leadership on a range of activities and projects where MEICA type equipment is installed, refurbished or replaced.
Joining our friendly and important Midlands Supra Area MEICA Team you will report to the Midlands MEICA Team Leader, acting as technical leader on MEICA activity and will participate in our response to flood incidents. You will provide technical electrical support and direction to other MEICA Team members and be responsible for liaising with wide range of business partners and leading on actions on behalf of the Midlands MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the statutory legislation, British and European standards, relating to electrical safety.
- Experience in leading or taking a lead role in safety investigations, identifying and disseminating learnings to bring about improvements in electrical and behavioural safety.
- Knowledge and experience of Root Cause Analysis and process improvement.
- A good understanding of Asset Management and asset management computer systems.
- Highly motivated self-starter.
- Outcome focussed. You will need to demonstrate you can deliver the required tasks.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent and professionally registered. CEng with the IET.
- Ability to influence, persuade and bring others with you.
- Technical Leadership.
- BEng or MEng degree Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- CDM 2015 and general health and safety awareness.
- Project Management.
- Writing and reviewing technical specifications.
- Discretion, ability to work on sensitive issues.
- Excellent communication skills.

You will report to the Midlands Supra Area MEICA Team Leader who is based at Fradley Park, Lichfield.

The salary will be circa £34,330 per annum we also have an enhanced payment of £6,000 per annum in place for Chartered Engineers working within our MEICA Teams.
