We are looking for motivated, dedicated and technical team members to help us plan and coordinate the delivery of our asset maintenance programme in our field teams.
Alongside your team leader you will be responsible for the planning, allocating day to day resource and monitoring our asset maintenance and operation activities along parts of the River Thames and its tributaries.
You will source and arrange delivery of materials and specialised plant needed to meet our programme. When required you will provide technical and health, safety and wellbeing advice and leadership on work tasks. You will be comfortable making decisions and resolve problems as they arise.
To help management the team you will support in the organisation of our depots, inspection of our equipment and servicing of our vehicles. Deputise as Field Team Leader when required.
You will help lead our operational response to flood and environment incidents inside and outside of normal working hours by participating, training and exercising in an incident role. You will also identify, organise, and coordinate training for field teams to test our incident response plans.
Our field teams protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets and responding to incidents.
Field teams predominately work outside, in or near water. With a range of technical skills they deliver watercourse maintenance, along with asset maintenance and construction projects using a variety of equipment and plant including floating plant, boats and other specialist equipment.
They support the prevention or mitigation of incidents day and night.
You will have experience in construction, maintenance and/or field operations based role and understanding associated risks with this work.
A knowledge and experience of using tools, working with and around plant and managing people in this environment are all desirable. A sound understanding of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2015 would be advantageous. You will be or will become a Principle Contractor to assist in the delivery of our asset management programme in line with our Safety, Health, Environment and Wellbeing (SHEW) code of practice.
You will be competent using IT devices, such as an iPad, and willing to learn our in-house systems.
You should demonstrate a positive, adaptable approach and a 'can do' attitude. Be able to use personal effectiveness and your technical expertise, to carry out tasks and answer queries internally and externally. You will be willing to undertake specialist or further training when necessary.
