Are you passionate about the environment and want to help to protect it?
Are you looking for that first step into an administration role or want to change career?
If so we can offer you the chance to become a valuable part of an administrative team providing comprehensive support to Directors as they lead delivery of the 25 Year Environment Plan.

Based in the Home Office building in Westminster where we work alongside our Defra Ministers, or in our award winning central Bristol office by College Green, you will be well supported by experienced mentors and friendly colleagues.

Duties will include:

• Administrating as needed alongside the Director, Deputy Directors and team.
• Arranging and booking trains and hotel accommodation.
• Managing telephone and face to face queries.
• Arranging meetings, preparing meeting papers, and helping to organise events.
• Managing the Director or Deputy Directors’ email boxes.
• Prioritising urgent and sensitive work and ensuring it is dealt with appropriately.
Everyone at the Environment Agency has the same ambition: To create a better place for people and wildlife.

You’ll be working with experienced Administrators and be part of a wider apprentice community made up of individuals with different talents and abilities and of all ages and backgrounds.

Our ultimate aim is for a workforce that reflects the diversity in the communities we work with and the environment we protect.
Background and experience are not as important as your energy, enthusiasm and commitment as the apprenticeship will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to be fully competent in this role.

You’ll be completing a Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship and will do this through a combination of online learning and face to face workshops.

You will need to take responsibility for completing coursework on time, maintaining up to date evidence for your assessments and put into practice what you’re learning by continuing to do your day job every day. You will be expected to work hard.

Successful candidates will have:
• Excellent attention to detail and be able to produce accurate work.
• Good interpersonal, team working and communication skills.
• Good organisational and planning skills and ability to work to deadlines under pressure.
• Maths and English at GCSE Grades A – C (or equivalent).
This apprenticeship is for 24 months, starting between summer and September 2019. Employees who successfully complete their apprenticeship, typically after 18 months, will be considered for permanent employment.

On completion of the apprenticeship, salary will increase from:
• £16,552 to £18,392 in Bristol.
• £20,181 to £22,021 in London.

If you are yet to take GCSEs but expect to achieve Grade A-C Maths and English (or equivalent) in the summer, you may still apply.

This advert is targeted towards people aged 16 – 24 but there is no upper age limit for these apprenticeships. Anyone who meets the criteria can apply
