We are looking for Environment Officers to join our waste teams covering Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire. You'll be responsible for regulating the waste industry, ensuring our regulated sites remain in full compliance and taking enforcement action against those that fail to comply. This is a challenging front line role and you may need to deal with situations that are often hostile and confrontational. Good communication, influencing and persuading skills are therefore essential.

You'll respond to pollution incidents and investigate illegal activities during and outside office hours, as well as supporting wider incident management across the business.
The team regulates a range of permitted waste sites, hazardous waste producers and waste carriers across Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire, which ensures compliance and protection of the environment. They also participate in out of hours standby duty for waste and water incidents dealing with both rural communities and urban issues.
You'll be able to demonstrate that you have experience of, or skills in:
• Effective communication and building customer and partner relationships;
• Influencing and persuading customers;
• Working independently, taking decisions and solving problems to achieve positive outcomes;
• Dealing successfully with conflict and difficult people and situations;
• Adapting your behaviour appropriately to different people and situations;
• Managing customer expectations
• A full UK driving licence is essential as you’ll be involved in fieldwork.
These are full-time, permanent roles.

Grade range: £19,835 - £21,476 (Environment Officer A) and £26,603 - £32,873 (Environment Officer B)

Driving licence required
