How would you like to work for an organisation that is inclusive, values your views and strives to improve the environment?

The Water, Land & Biodiversity Asset Management Programme aims to provide the framework, systems and processes to improve how we manage our assets. Establishing an asset inventory and knowing the condition of our assets underpins our risk-based approach and ensures they are safe, effective, resilient and that our future investment requirements are understood.

You will work within a newly formed team and with others in West Midlands collating and processing WLB asset information; you will be desk based and visit our assets in the field.

The role includes:
- Recording and cataloguing WLB assets across West Midlands onto our asset management systems.
- Carrying out a programme of visual inspections of assets to determine condition, identify issues and liaise with colleagues to ensure defects are corrected.
- Assisting our WLB Asset Management Team and national colleagues to ensure assets are safe, efficient, resilient and legally compliant.
- Assisting the WLB Asset Management Technical Lead to develop and establish an organisational culture where all staff understand their role in delivering our objectives.
- Supporting how we improve our assets sustainability.
In West Midlands we are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We welcome flexible working for all our vacancies.

Reporting to one of our WLB team leaders, your workload will largely be guided by the Area WLB Asset Management Technical Lead. You will also work with H&T Officers in matters relating to asset management. You will be required to support National and Area asset management teams.
Experience in asset management, direct involvement in projects or in the delivery of asset maintenance work is an advantage but not essential. The ability to manage a varied workload is essential. Previous exposure to engineering projects is desirable.

The following experiences are beneficial:
- Knowledge of Water, Land and Biodiversity
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
- Deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information
- Working under own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes
- Organisational skills and an ability to use MS Office (strong Excel skills are desirable) and other relevant applications

A full UK driving license is required for this role. You must be able to swim and be confident around water.

Occasional national travel is required to attend meetings on behalf of the WLB Asset Management Technical Lead.
We welcome applications from all individuals who wish to make a real practical contribution to protecting our environment.

We provide excellent learning and development opportunities and encourage all staff to become members of their relevant professional body, which is paid for.
