The Environment Agency has been set a national target to better protect 360,000 properties from the risk of flooding by 2027. In order to meet this target, the DEFRA 25 year plan, and in line with our new flood & coastal erosion risk strategy, we need to ensure we have secured the funds needed to deliver our capital programme.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate person to lead our partnership funding work across the Wessex Area.
Internally you will work across the various EA teams and departments to identify funding gaps in our current and future capital programme, as well as identify opportunities where we can engage with direct and indirect beneficiaries.
Externally you will lead on the engagement with potential beneficiaries to secure the required funding to deliver our ambitious flood risk programme.
You will develop and lead a small virtual team of practitioners to support you and develop our internal skills and resilience with this new and exciting area of work.
Our Partnership and Strategic Overview teams use their expert understanding to reduce flood and coastal erosion risk for our communities. From identifying need and opportunities to securing funding and delivering projects, the team work closely with our partners on developing short to long term plans for managing flood and coastal erosion risk.
We work with numerous internal and external partners to ensure that our schemes reduce flood risk and also enhance the environment as well.
We are looking for someone who

• Has significant experience in influence and negotiating with senior figures of National bodies.
• Has a thorough understanding and experience of understanding business concepts and their application. Marketing and sales skills would be advantageous.
• Is able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and evidence of developing people and able to deliver through others
• Is able to be self-sufficient, proactive, and driven to achieve results.
• The post holder will require a relevant degree or equivalent experience and be chartered, or working towards becoming chartered, with a professional body ie CIWEM.

You will need a full UK driving licence.
This vacancy is a permanent role. There will be a choice of base locations.

As part of the package you will able to enrol with the EAs pension scheme, be entitled to work flexibly as part of our flexible working policy, and may also qualify for a lease car.

As part of the Environment Agency’s incident response remit you will be expected to take up an incident response role. This may on occasion require you to have to work outside of normal working hours (overtime payable).
