This role will work as a flagship multi-agency science programme with a high profile with policy makers in Defra and HMT. We are looking for experts who relish the thrill of developing a new way of how we make environmental decisions in England. Sentinel is the Environment Agency’s new national evidence capability, and this role is core to its production and delivery. You will work closely with staff across the Environment Agency and Defra to ensure new surveillance monitoring programmes and the capability to understand and interpret the data are delivered to Sentinel’s unique specification and high quality standards. This role requires an organised mind, an eye for detail and an ability to deliver efficient and novel business outcomes via innovative solutions.
Leading a new evidence capability to deliver the needs of the 25 Year Environment Plan and natural capital assessments, the Sentinel Capability team will develop the Environment Agency’s contribution to Defra’s NCEA programme. It will take data from the new national monitoring networks and work closely with the team delivering these networks. It will provide evidence for future national challenges to the water environment such as shifts in land use, climate change and socio-economic pressures.
This would be a great opportunity for anyone interested in developing of a new way of assessing and understanding environmental change and working with a range of colleagues and partners across the Defra family and beyond.
You should:
