This new role has been created to bolster the work of the Anglian Eastern Regional Flood & Coastal Committee, specifically, to provide administrative assistance to 2 energetic subgroups of the committee.

Engagement subgroup - purpose is to unite communities to jointly manage flood and erosion risks; this group works hand in hand with the Environment subgroup, which helps ensure that the environment and habitats are bolstered as a sustainable way to manage flood risk.

On a day to day basis the role will provide administrative assistance which includes: organising meetings, recording and chasing actions, taking notes, circulating agendas. The role holder should be comfortable participating in a committee environment and being an advocate for the Environment Agency and partner organisations.

There will be opportunity to assist in the wider work of the team, helping ensure good governance for our wider programme of flood and coastal erosion management works.
The Programme Team tracks spending, and performance across a large number of projects for the creation and maintenance of flood and coastal erosion management assets, e.g. flood defences. The team is dispersed, with colleagues located across East Anglia. It works closely with many people and organisations.

Under normal circumstances you'll be based at one of the EA offices listed above but during the current period of Coronavirus restrictions you will be working from home.
Through experience you should be able to demonstrate:
• Good communication and great organisational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
• Self-starting and highly organised, you will be required to use your initiative to get the job done
• An ability to create and maintain people networks
• The role holder will be an advocate for the Environment Agency and partner organisations and be comfortable participating in a committee environment.
• A full UK driving licence is beneficial, though not essential.
• A willingness to undertake specialist/or further training when necessary
• The ability to learn technical issues and accurately record discussions
• A willingness to offer a fresh perspective

The role is primarily office based, which in practice is likely to include a blend of home and office work.

Salary of £23,963 for a 37 hour working week over 5 days. The post is full-time although requests for other work patterns will be considered.
