We are looking for a friendly team member who can work independently when required to help maintain our river and coastal structures.
As a Grade 3 officer you will be working with an experienced team who could support you if this is a completely new role from your existing. Key to the team is the willingness to get stuck in and work with those around you.
Your role will support both catchment areas so you will be working across the whole patch, but this will largely be office based at Blandford.
You will need excellent communication skills to work closely within the team and our business partners internally.
You will need to be self-motivating and capable of identifying opportunities to work efficiently with our IT systems. You will support the team to use asset management system to issue maintenance contracts to the field team, full training will be given for this so no prior knowledge required
The Asset Performance Team manage the whole life cycle of flood defences in Wessex. The Wessex south team covers Dorset river systems and coast, our boundary also touches into Wiltshire and Hampshire. The area faces the challenges of flooding from a variety of sources; groundwater in North Dorset, highly reactive catchments for example the Purbecks, slower response catchments at the Avon at Salisbury.
You will be experienced in working as part of a team as well as using your own initiative on given tasks. We require someone with good communication skills both written and spoken to convey information to both colleagues and customers. You will be proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office and have outstanding data and analytical skills.
Beneficial to have health, safety and wellbeing knowledge in a high risk environment and an awareness of working with CDM regulations in the development of projects
