This is a unique opportunity for a senior engineer to join the technical discipline of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA). You’ll be passionate about improving how we work, supporting our people and ensuring they have the skills, capabilities, and capacity to deliver exemplary asset management.

It’s a fantastic chance to work directly with Local Operations while linking with Portfolios, Directorates, and governance for Asset Management.
We’re looking for a self-starter, eager to grow their experience at a national level, with relevant engineering qualifications and professional registration. You’ll understand organisational development, resource management, and business planning, with a successful delivery record while collaborating across a wide range of colleagues and partners.

You’ll be a leader who mobilises and motivates others to deliver with you, often outside your direct line management. A skilled communicator, you’ll influence at all levels of the organisation, with strong customer and stakeholder focus and excellent collaboration skills.

Duties include providing technical leadership in risk-based asset management compliance and assurance to drive positive change across our teams and asset base (e.g., flood risk, water resources, navigation, and air quality monitoring assets). You’ll also help manage MEICA’s business, monitoring and presenting MEICA metrics, undertaking do-once activities on behalf of the team, leading on MEICA resources including recruitment, developing succession plans, risk and health, safety well-being triage, developing the communication methods, process re-engineering, and implementing change.

Our MEICA community is a multi-skilled group of MEICA engineers and support staff. As part of the MEICA Operations management team, you will report to a MEICA Operations Manager but directly support both managers as well as the seven geographically dispersed MEICA Teams. As a Senior Advisor on MEICA activity, you will provide technical leadership, and support. You will be responsible for liaising with business partners and managing MEICA national actions and technical input.

•Educated to BEng in a MEICA Engineering discipline.
•Holding either incorporated or chartered status with the IMechE/IET.
•Comprehensive knowledge of MEICA statutory legislation, British/European standards.
•Experience operating as the Subject Matter Expert in a MEICA discipline.
•Experience of business planning and resource management.
•Experience of Change Management.
•Ability to influence and persuade others and strong technical leadership.
•Knowledge of CDM 2015/H&S Legislation/BIM and Asset Management/computerised maintenance management systems.
•Experience in Asset Management (Institute of Asset Management Certificate is desirable)
•Excellent communication and presentation skills.
•Experience of Risk Management.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. • Full time salary of £54,940 p.a
• Chartered engineers receive an additional £9,750 p.a.
• Incorporated engineers receive an additional £4,750 p.a.
• Salary and professional recognition payment pro-rata if part time.

Travel across the area and occasionally across the country is required. Responding to incidents is also a central part of what we do. UK Driving Licence essential.
