Environmental Practitioner (Level 6) Apprenticeship - 31952

If so, we’re looking for an Environmental Practitioner Level 6 Apprentice full of enthusiasm and potential to support our integrated environmental planning team.

The Team you’ll be joining focuses on improving water environment and managing water resources. Working with others internally and externally the team produces environmental evidence informing and driving local priorities and investment. This role enables you to work with a wide range of environmental data and information helping to understand the problems and where actions are needed. This is a varied role, and you will work across the team, gaining broad experience of both water resource and water quality management.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be asked to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training will be available to support you with your incident role.

You’ll be joining a friendly team of water quality and water resources planners, reporting to Integrated Environment Planning Team Leader. This team will support you with on the job training, but you’ll also have a dedicated Talent Coach to support your formal learning, and you’ll be part of a much wider apprentice community. The apprenticeship involves a blended approach to learning, with a combination of facilitated learning in workshops, digital delivery and one-to-one coaching support.

-Demonstrable interest in the natural world – from previous study, volunteering etc.
-Any qualification(s) which give the required number (103) of UCAS points. The apprenticeship is a fully funded 53 month learning commitment, resulting in a degree level qualification
-Not suitable for those who already hold a level 6 (degree level) qualification in a similar subject. Those with level 6 qualifications in an unrelated subject are eligible to apply
-Available to those 18 or over. There are no upper age restrictions
-You must have the right to work in the UK and have been a UK resident for a minimum of three years
-Experience in the use of Excel –willingness to learn to use databases and geographical information systems
-Good verbal and written communication skills
-Effective planning skills able to prioritise and deliver to tight deadlines
-Sound decision making skills based on data and evidence
-Desirable: Driving licence

You’ll be completing an Environmental Practitioner Level 6 Apprenticeship through a combination of online learning and remotely delivered workshops. Offers of employment are subject to acceptance for enrolment with the relevant institution.

A minimum number of your paid hours is allocated to apprenticeship training with the remainder of your time spent learning ‘on-the-job’ in the workplace.

The base location for this role is Bridgwater or Blandford but we welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job share.

It would be anticipated that this role would require some travel, principally to attend internal meetings and site visits.

Interviews are expected be held from W/C 3rd November, face-to-face at the Bridgwater Office.
