We require a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is a creative problem solver helping to deliver the national FCRM programme and Area objectives on the River Thames Scheme. You’ll provide environmental project management support enabling delivery of Environment Agency high risk projects. You’ll provide expert advice on environmental and sustainability issues ensuring projects and programmes meet wider Environment Agency objectives and compliance.

• Project manage environmental aspects of high risk capital projects ensuring EA quality standards are met and are environmentally sound, cost effective and delivered on time
• Manage EIA and SEA related consultation, ensuring a time appropriate input into the development of Environment Agency projects and strategies
• Assesses and rates performance of environmental consultants and contractors, providing feedback for continual improvement
• Manage, oversee and co-ordinate complex programmes
• Provide technical expertise and leadership on specific issues related to EIA / SEA, sustainability appraisal and related technical environmental assessments including HRA and WFD assessment
• Provide expert advice to Environment Agency project managers, clients, project and programme boards enabling work programme development and delivery, meeting EA objectives and legal compliance
• Provide technical direction and mentoring to team members
• Seek opportunities to deliver integrated outcomes
NEAS specialise in evaluation of environmental and social risk and how it effects the Agency’s strategic plans and major infrastructure projects. We ensure that we correctly identify potential environmental risk at an early stage and work as a client service with Area and the project team, using the tools of EIA or SEA, to manage any inherent socio-environmental risks and deliver positive outcomes. The team provide the Agency’s professional resources in Heritage and Landscape Architecture.
You'll have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external partners. We are always looking at good practice from other sectors and so experience in the water industry is not essential, if you have valuable experience to offer.

You will also:
• be able to show where you’ve worked with others to deliver environmental successes
• have experience reviewing statutory environmental statements, and SEA's and co-ordination of statutory EIA
• be able to demonstrate a good understanding of different technical areas of expertise, such as habitats regulations, planning or environmental design
• have obtained or be working towards Full or Chartered Membership of your professional institution (e.g. IEMA, CIEEM or CIWEM).

Have or are working towards Membership of IEMA, CIWEM or other recognised relevant professional bodies
