We’re looking for an enthusiastic person who wants to make a difference to the area in which they live and work as part of a friendly, supportive team. As a Waterways Enforcement Support Officer you will support the enforcement activities required to be taken against boaters that do not meet our statutory requirements on our waterways. Attention to detail will be essential.

You can expect to be involved in any of the following:

• Dealing with enquiries and phone calls regarding enforcement matters.
• Collecting and analysing data.
• Ensuring our records are kept up-to-date and accurate.
• Co-ordinating responses between various teams involved in boat (vessel) registration enforcement activities.
• Supporting in the production of case files going to Court.

This is a front line role, primarily office based and will include direct liaison with external customers and our own enforcement staff. There will be opportunities to get involved with incident management. We have a flexible range of roles you can volunteer for and you’ll get all the training and support you need.
The Waterways Partnerships & Development team consists of up to 7 staff who manage partnership working, vessel registration, enforcement activities, income and funding strategies and waterways estates. This work is essential for maintaining our income and delivering efficiencies through partnership work to help support our navigable waterways. The team supports the wider Waterways (navigation) function who manage our navigable rivers for the 7000+ boats using the Anglian Waterways.
Through experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate some of the following:
• Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers.
• Delivery of work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information.
• An appreciation of the Agency’s navigation responsibilities.
• Ability to work on your own initiative, and as part of a team, to make decisions and achieve results.
• Good organisational skills and an ability to use MS Office and other similar packages.

You must have excellent communication skills and be able to liaise directly with our internal and external customers, by both email and telephone.

You will contribute to the effective management, regulation and development of navigation and recreation activities on and around the Anglian Waterways. You will assist the enforcement team in their work to ensure we have an efficiently managed and regulated navigation.

This is an assignment role and has the option of being either full time (37 hours per week) for 6 months or part time (18.5 to 37 hours a week) for up to 12 months, negotiable during the recruitment period.

There is a possibility that this post may be made permanent at the end of the assignment period.
