Ensuring that waste is managed safely in order to protect human health and the environment is a fundamental duty of government and regulators. Our digital services are a key instrument to deliver these duties.

We have a wide range of regulatory regimes that are in different stages of digital transformation and you’ll help progress their development. You’ll provide significant contribution to the delivery of end-to-end digital services by means of cross-team coordination, collaboration and flexibility.

You will:

● form the vision for your product and engage teams and stakeholders in the development of that vision
● represent users throughout the delivery process and use their feedback to inform continuous improvement
● help teams to manage and visualise outcomes, prioritise work and work to agreed minimum viable product
● ensure the team is working towards the appropriate service standards for the relevant phase
● be able to manage the delivery of products or services at different phases

You will be key to ensuring that the right actions are taken to investigate, resolve and anticipate problems. This will include coordinating the team to investigate problems, and implement solutions and preventative measures as appropriate.
The Waste Regulation team sits within the Environment and Business directorate and sets the strategic direction of waste regulation within England. We are currently in an exciting time where there are several new initiatives from government as well as our own aspirations around waste. Managing waste well is critical to protecting the environment and becoming increasingly recognised as important to help preserve natural resources.
You will have experience with Agile development processes, ideally within a government role. Working closely with Service Owners to get buy-in to deliver the best outcomes for the environment and our users means you will need excellent influencing and communication skills.

You will be able to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use, including measuring and evaluating outcomes with the team to decide the best approach.
