In Winter 2020/21 we experienced significant flooding across the area. This event highlighted potential improvements to the way we and our partners work together to respond to, and manage water during future flood events and we are looking to set up a project team to deliver these improvements.

We are advertising two roles which form a key part of this project team:

1.Flood Response Framework Lead: Lead the development of existing multi-agency flood plans to achieve a framework for a consistent response to flood incidents. This will involve working with partners to develop and support emergency planning processes.

2.Flood Asset Operations Lead: Lead the development of new processes and will involve working with operational partners to identify and develop processes through which we can better utilise assets during a flood event.

Both roles involve working with and influencing internal and external stakeholders to achieve joint outcomes whilst providing support and leadership to other members of the department.

We work flexibly and from home but you'll be required to attend your base location or partner sites as needed.

The post is full-time although requests for other work patterns will be considered.
The Flood and Coastal Risk Management department in the Great Ouse catchment is responsible for helping to protect people and property from future flood risk.

We work with partner organisations to develop and fund projects that reduce the risk of flooding to communities with the greatest need. The team also performs regulatory activities through planning and permitting, supports development of local strategies, and engages with partners and communities to increase resilience to flooding.
You'll bring good organisational awareness and your interpersonal skills will be complimented by your enthusiasm to achieve results.

In addition you will:

• be an excellent communicator with a proven track record and be confident in engaging with people, gained through experience in a partner engagement role.
• have experience working in partnership to help deliver outcomes.
• have political awareness and sensitivity when dealing with customers, stakeholders and communities.
• be able to work as part of a team as well as individually, and prioritise an interesting and varied workload. You will be good at working under pressure, working flexibly and at pace.

Ideally you will have knowledge of Flood & Coastal Risk Management and emergency planning.
