We are looking for a skilled electrician to assist in planned preventative maintenance on flood defence and river navigation structures and to carry out repair work and respond to breakdowns. A knowledge of telemetry systems would be an advantage. You'll be working within a field team based at Ely Depot but working at locations situated mainly across Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire helping to complete our maintenance programme for pumping stations, river control structures, flood barriers, locks, flood gates and sluices.

Our MEICA assets, which range from 1940s pumping equipment to the most up to date PLC systems, have a very important role in the protection of people, property and the environment.

You'll require good ‘IT’ and verbal communication skills whilst also being able to work well within a team environment but also, at times, independently and unsupervised. The role will also involve supervising/overseeing works undertaken by apprentices and external organisations.

Work will involve travelling to remote locations, working outside, working at height and working near water.

A driving licence is essential, as the role will require travel to various sites within the East Anglia Area.

You'll take part in incident response so some standby and on call work will be required.
The Ely Field MEICA team is a small team that has both electrical and mechanically skilled members and currently has 2 apprentices. The team supports both flood risk management and waterways and provides electrical and mechanical assistance to the business.
This role requires a qualified electrician with experience of working on industrial or commercial installations. Fault finding and diagnostic skills are required and a good knowledge and understanding of electrical safety is essential.

A full UK driving licence is essential.

You will be willing to undertake specialist/or further training when necessary.

The candidate pack and role profile available below, should be read along with the advert in order to understand the key accountabilities and skills needed to succeed in this role.
