As an advisor in the Flood Resilience Team you will work alongside the Team Leader and other advisors to prioritise and manage the team’s workload and set the strategic direction of the team. You will support or lead tasks that include:
- Managing the programme of improvements to the Flood Warning Service and identifying where future improvements are required
- Influencing how we manage our telemetry network
- Co-ordinating engagement work across the FCRM department and shaping the Flood Resilience engagement work delivered across the North East Area
- Providing input into incident plans and procedures
- Overseeing the Area Incident Room readiness.
- Providing technical leadership and helping to train team members and duty officers.
- Co-ordinating the local implementation of national Incident Management projects.
The Flood Resilience team manages the Flood Warning Service to ensure our customers receive a service which is accurate, timely and based on the most up to date information. We engage with a wide range of professional partners and our communities at risk to help them prepare for flooding. We ensure the area is ready to respond to flood events by providing training to staff and managing our Area Incident Room.
You will be able to provide strong leadership to a team of people and demonstrate the skills required to successfully plan, monitor and complete technical tasks which are delivered through yourself and others. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills which allow you to influence and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders. Ideally you will have an understanding of the Environment Agency’s role in responding to a variety of incident types and a knowledge of the Flood Warning Service and other systems used during our incident response.
If you would like further information about this exciting role please contact Flood Resilience Team Leader Phil Taylor.
