Are you passionate about the environment and want to help protect it?
Are you looking for that first step into an administration role? Are you looking for a change of career, perhaps you're currently working in leisure, retail or another industry?
This is an incredible opportunity to work towards and gain a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. This means you will be working in full time employment, gaining experience and working towards your qualification at the same time.
You will also be responsible for providing a proactive and comprehensive support service to either our Bristol or our Warrington Permitting centre, part of the National Permitting Service (see pack).
You will be working collaboratively with Administrators elsewhere in the business and with the Permitting Managers and Permitting Team Leaders.
Duties will include
• Arranging meetings, organising meeting papers, and helping to plan large events or conferences
• Undertaking general administrative duties and tasks as assigned by the Permitting Manager or their team
• Arranging travel and booking trains and hotel accommodation as required
• Filtering and directing incoming queries, identifying urgent and/or sensitive matters and dealing with them appropriately
• Proactively managing the Permitting Manager’s calendar and mail box as required
Everyone at the Environment Agency has the same ambition: To create a better place for people and wildlife.
You’ll be working with the Permitting Managers and permitting teams in Bristol and Warrington as well as with experienced Administrators in the other three permitting centres to support the determination of environmental permits.
Our aim is to have a workforce that reflects the diversity in the communities we work with and the environment we protect.
Background and experience are not as important as your energy, enthusiasm and commitment. The apprenticeship will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to be fully competent in this role through a combination of online learning and face to face workshops.
You will need to take responsibility for completing coursework on time, maintaining up to date evidence for your assessments and put into practice what you’re learning by continuing your day to day work. In short, you will be expected to work hard, but you will have plenty of support.
In addition, successful candidates will have
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work
• Good interpersonal, team working and communication skills
• Good organisational and planning skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines
• Maths and English at GCSE Grades A – C (or equivalent)
Starting salary will be £16,552. This will progress to £18,392 on successful completion of the apprenticeship.
Within this permanent position, your apprenticeship will last for 18 months, starting soon after you begin.
