The M&E Team Leader role is a challenging but rewarding one. You will be leading and managing a team of Mechanical and Electrical engineers with the responsibility of maintaining and operating our flood risk management structures and in doing so helping to protect communities across East Anglia from the devastating impacts of both tidal and fluvial flooding. Your key roles will be to ensure that the team has the correct resources, skills and operational capabilities to fulfil both our day to day maintenance activities, in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner, and to provide effective and professional incident response to potential flood events. You'll oversee a programme of maintenance works and ensure successful delivery of important engineering projects. You'll work with the Operations Manager to under understand the corporate strategies and priorities in order to set the teams objectives and develop the work programme. You'll also be working with external partners, suppliers and landowners as well as with internal teams to plan the future maintenance needs of the catchment. Your strong leadership will maintain the high standard of corporate and professional behaviours expected of the team and ensure successful delivery of important works which protect people and property.
You will lead a skilled technical team of 10 to 15, maintaining flood risk structures, such as flood gates and barriers, ultimately protecting people, property and wildlife. The team include one to two technical specialists supporting the technical work of the team, leaving you to focus on leadership, skills/resilience and work planning. In addition to maintenance work, the team also plans, exercises and tests our response capabilities to ensure we provide effective timely incident response.
You will have strong leadership skills with experience of managing teams and a proven track record of delivering projects and programmes through others. You can motivate, inspire and will have excellent communication and networking skills with an enthusiasm for innovation and continual improvement.

• Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation, risk management procedures and practices including CDM
• Coaching and mentoring skills to get the best out of people and have an active role in their development
• Ability to translate organisational outcomes into plans and programmes for frontline delivery
• Budget management capabilities
• Effective planning skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver results to tight deadlines
• You must be able to take initiative, be flexible, solve problems and make decisions
• Excellent IT skills and experience of managing and interpreting data
• Experience / knowledge of maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems would be advantageous

Hours 37 hours per week.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
