You will act as a part of a team engaging widely across the business to improve the management of performance data in business, commercial and programme functions. While providing specific capabilities for the team you will also have a general understanding and support the team’s operation as needs arise.
Your key responsibilities will be;

1) To maintain and process regular (and some ad hoc) reports/analysis - ensuring accuracy, clarity and relevance (note: data processing tests will form part of the interview)
2) Engagement with stakeholders and programme teams to understand current business processes and/or transitional and future requirements
3) Documentation and communication of business need and change requirements, and associated proposed
4) Analysis of business issues and needs by using the appropriate business analysis methodologies and techniques in order to elicit the real business need behind problem statements and high level requirements
5) Ability to apply an appropriate level of challenge to ensure positive outcome
6) Shaping and prioritising actions (e.g. changes to system(s) functionality) to provide best fit with business requirements and resource
7) Risk identification, documentation and impact assessment, including action mitigation
8) Help develop data capture processes and platforms for key data sets.
The Ncpms Planning and Performance Team views performance across all Ncpms activities, providing management information to drive improvement. Manipulating data into information is highly important, but so too is the ability to understand, support and influence people. Through communicating and engaging with groups and individuals we explain why things are needed, what needs to be done and by when, and then we provide; support, guidance and even training when needed to effect change.
The role is diverse, challenging, fast-paced and often changes. Effective communication of conclusions and recommendations, showing empathy and understanding of your audience is essential.

Essential capabilities:

• Proficient in data analysis in Excel (cleaning, processing and visualising data in Excel 2013 as a minimum)
• Able to manage yourself; highly motivated, organised, resilient and able to deliver in a changing environment
• Strong influencing and communication skills
• A strategic and questioning outlook - strong problem solving and analytical skills combined with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects at once
• Capacity for discussion and debate with developers, testers and stakeholders to ensure the best solution

Preferable

• Experience in systems and/or software development with an understanding of iterative planning and delivery
• Completed BCS business analysis certificates/diploma, or demonstrate continuing professional development within business analysis.
• Project management qualifications (E.g. Prince2 or APMG)
