You will analyse, validate and quality assure the data collected from the outstation network, as well as undertaking some fieldwork to install and operate data logging equipment.
The hydrometry and telemetry team provides core hydrological monitoring activities in Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. We deliver a vital service that underpins many of the Environment Agency's statutory responsibilities relating to flood forecasting and water resource management by operating a network of rainfall, river and groundwater measurement sites.
We are seeking someone with an aptitude for numbers and statistics who can demonstrate a logical and analytical mind. You will have an eye for detail, and will be able to spot errors and trends in large datasets. You are likely to understand and have experience of working with hydrological data. You will be a practical person with skills which may have been gained through scientific work, craft hobbies, DIY or similar and who has the ability to install, test and repair measuring instruments.
You will be proficient in the use of Excel, Word and database management and will have excellent verbal and written communication skills as you will need to convey detailed technical information to customers.

A full driving licence is required as travel to remote field sites may be necessary. You must be able to pass a City University Colour Vision test as work involves low voltage electrical wiring. You must be able to swim as some work may be in or near water.
