We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced geoscientist to join our Geoscience Operations Team in an NPS Centre (Warrington, Bristol, Solihull or Nottingham).

You will join an existing core technical team and be responsible for providing technical support to the National Permitting Service and Area teams. You will be working with other technical specialists within the team as well as colleagues across the organisation. To ensure we deliver our goals, you will you need to be comfortable taking decisions and have a strong focus on delivering outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference to people’s quality of life through minimising the long term impact to the environment.
You’ll be joining the Geoscience Operational Team, part of the National Permitting Service, providing support to NPS (for permit related work), E&B, and Area teams (for closed landfill review).

The team has, historically, used its technical expertise to assess and support the landfill sector. We have broadened this scope over the last few years to include mining, deposit for recovery, intensive farming and, more recently, oil & gas.
We’re seeking a hydrogeologist or geotechnical engineer, qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and have proven ability and/or knowledge of:

• Assessment of geological, hydrogeological, or engineering information
• Groundwater risk assessment – interpretation and modelling of groundwater risk
• Gas management and control
• Stability Risk Assessment
We realise individuals may not have all the technical knowledge listed above and will be recruiting to complement the technical skills within the team.

We’re ideally seeking individuals with regulatory experience and a working knowledge of the permitting process.

The non-technical requirements for this job include:
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues
• Team working
• Establishing and maintaining a network of contacts
• Excellent communication and customer service skills,
• Influencing and negotiating
• As this is a dispersed team, self motivation is important
• A passion for problem solving and delivering outcomes
Closing Date: 22nd December 2017 at 23:55 hours

The role will be primarily office based. The current team is dispersed at several locations therefore travel will be required to support your colleagues and attend meetings.

For further details please contact Julian Ingram, Principal Permitting Team Leader on 07765 341924.
