This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of fleet specialists supporting delivery of our net zero carbon ambitions. Leading and identifying how we can work with our commercial colleagues to lead the way procuring the most environmentally sustainable equipment to deliver our outcomes.

You will work as part of a nationally dispersed team and with colleagues across the organisation identifying business needs, determining contract strategy, and leading tender processes including award of contracts. You will manage and monitor performance of medium and high level contracts enabling us to ensure we reduce our environmental footprint, maintain a cost effective fleet, to deliver our legal and health & safety responsibilities.

As part of the Contracts team, you will be expected to work with colleagues across the organisation and with external Customers and Suppliers, so the ability to build and maintain a working network of contacts is essential and requires excellent relationship management and influencing skills.
Defra Group Fleet Services (DGFS) is a national team that now provides a collaborative fleet service to across the Defra group. The Contracts team work with colleagues to develop the contract requirement, determine and award the required contracts and contract management of supplier performance to ensure operational delivery of contracted services. The role will report to the Contract Manager
Establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners to understand and influence their activities and promote and enhance Environment Agency goals and reputation

Plan, monitor, control and realign resources to ensure that all activities are completed effectively and efficiently

Provide advice and guidance as a lead expert in fleet, developing appropriate solutions to problems within policy / best practice guidelines

Contribute to the development of Environment Agency policy / process at national / local level and monitor and advice on effective implementation in the business, in line with environmental targets

Develop and implement systems and tools for monitoring and reporting on service delivery, to assess and interpret operational performance / compliance and advise senior managers on implications and appropriate action

Experience in contract management would be extremely desirable

Experience of the procurement processes within Defra would be desirable

The applicant must be well organised and a self-starter
The location is flexible, but one of the Fleet hubs would be preferred. You'll be comfortable working as part of a dispersed and remote working and management. Some travel will be required, including occasional overnight stays.
