The Partnerships and Strategic Overview (PSO) team develops an understanding of, and manage, flood and coastal erosion risk by working flexibly in partnership in ways that are good value and benefit communities and the environment where it is most needed. In fulfilling our strategic overview, we will be developing our knowledge of risk of flooding from all sources, so we can help landowners, local authorities and others understand how we can work together to reduce flood risk from single sources and in combination.

The PSO team will work with all authorities to specify, plan, fund and create assets to achieve outcomes, including influencing the location and flood management of new development through spatial planning and flood risk activity permitting.

Working with colleagues in other local offices this role will lead on the provision of flood risk data and information to a variety of internal and external customers. The data and information are in a variety of formats such as technical reports, flood models, databases and other data storage formats and will be provided to deadlines set out in our customer charter. The role also requires the successful candidate to support our incident response responsibilities.
Now is an exciting time to work in flood and coastal erosion risk management in the Environment Agency. We have set ourselves some ambitious goals for protecting people and property from flooding and adapting to the impacts of climate change.

It is important that the PSO teams work with internal teams across operational boundaries to provide a seamless service to our customers.
We are looking for individuals with good communication skills and great customer focus, who can work in partnership with other organisations and our internal teams to ultimately achieve our main goal of protecting people and property from flooding.

We require a team member that can lead on our use of Geographic Information Systems as well as providing and managing our flood risk data and information.

As a member of the PSO team, you will be engaging with others to form effective partnerships that deliver environmental and flood risk outcomes as well as delivering the flood risk activity permitting process.
