We are the Environment Agency. We protect and improve the environment. We work with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.

We’re investing £2.6 billion between 2015 and 2021 to reduce flood risk to 300,000 homes across England. It’s an exciting time and we need your help to ensure we’re prepared for any future flooding.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to support the management of our ambitious Flood & Coastal Risk Management programmes.

This role is varied and draws upon a diverse range of transferrable skills. Working closely with other teams, you can expect to be involved in any the following:

• Developing and planning programmes of work
• Tracking project progress and performance
• Collecting, analysing and interpreting data
• Advising on programme risks and opportunities
• Working closely with project delivery teams
• Preparing reports and presentations highlighting programme performance

There are opportunities to get involved with incident management when flooding occurs. We have a flexible range of roles you can volunteer for and you’ll get all the training and support you need.
Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) plays a huge part in the work that the Environment Agency does; helping to protect against flooding and minimising the risks caused by any floods that do occur. The Programme Team manages the Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire programmes of work. Investing £250m by 2021, we are planning to better protect more than 50,000 homes from flooding, sustaining FCRM assets and creating new wildlife habitat.
Through experience to date, you should be able to demonstrate the following:

• Strong programme or project management knowledge and skills

• Effective communication skills, with the ability to present convincing verbal and written advice

• The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others

• Excellent data management skills and experience of interpreting large data sets

• Good organisational skills, with an attention to detail

• A strong drive towards continuous improvement

• A proven record of working with customers and delivering on time

Please do not be put off from applying if you do not have experience in Flood & Coastal Risk Management. The key things we are looking for are transferrable skills, energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
The role will be based in either Lincoln, Peterborough or Kettering, with occasional travel required to other EA offices. As such, the post requires a full UK driving licence.
